Members of the AAGSL Family:

2017 has been an exciting year so far for the Abington Area Girls Softball League.  We completed our spring season with outstanding participation numbers and our first ever 10U developmental division.  We installed a brand new, state of the art scoreboard for both fields.  We installed a batting cage.  We finished our All Star season with a combined 6-0 tournament record for our 10U and 12U teams.  And now, we have kicked off our Fall Ball season and again, our registration and the number of teams we have is up.  Our softball program continues to grow and get better and we are blessed to have a wonderful facility at Hillside Park to call home.  

As many of you may already know, we have been very fortunate to procure lights for one of our fields at Hillside Park.   Through the hard work and generosity of several individuals and local businesses, we now have the light poles and fixtures that will allow us to light one of our fields and add 7 available game slots per week.  This equates to well over 100 additional game slots for our spring and fall seasons.  This is critical right now given the strong growth in registration we have seen.  Many of you are familiar with our ongoing struggle to find practice and playing time for so many teams.  The addition of lights also makes our facility one of the best in the area.  It helps solidify our program and dedication to the sport our daughters love.  It gives us the ability to host tournaments and bring additional exposure and revenue raising opportunities to our organization.

Now comes the hard part.  We need to raise the money necessary to install the lights.  To do that, we are kicking off a fund raising campaign.  Our goal is to raise $50,000.  It is an ambitious goal but one that we are confident we can achieve with your help.  

To start, we will be hosting an AAGSL Happy Hour and basket raffle at the Nyx in Clarks Summit on September 16th.  Tickets will be $10 for domestic draft beer from 5pm to 7pm.  Raffle tickets will be available for purchase separately.  There will be more information to come on this event.  

We also ask each one of you to make a donation to the AAGSL.  No amount is too small to help us achieve our goal and your donation is tax-deductible.  Also, please talk to your employers about making a donation.  Many companies have programs in place where they will match your contribution to a community organization. If they do not, please ask them to make a donation or become a sponsor for the league.  For donations of $250 or more, they will receive a sign with their logo on it to be hung at the field.  

We are also looking for a major sponsor for the field B scoreboard.  The sponsorship will include advertising on the scoreboard for a ten year period.  It is a fantastic opportunity to put the name of your business in front of thousands of people each year.  The cost of the scoreboard sponsorship is $15,000.
